Thai Letter Order

In the Thai language there are some well defined rules about what types of characters can appear consecutively in text. The rules ensure that Thai text always looks correct on all computers.

In the Settings menu you can set the Sequence Enforcement. You should always use the strict level. The other levels are for experts. This setting affects text input by keyboard and virtual keyboard such that if you try to enter an illegal sequence Sontana will beep and the character will not be entered into the editor.

You can check text in the editor buffer at any time by selecting Check Sequence from the Tools menu. This function is always run when you load or insert a file.

Sequence error

In the event of an error, Sontana will tell you the reason and move the cursor to the text where the first error occurred*. Run the Check Sequence function again to ensure that the file is error free before you save it.

* Sontana will try to place the cursor in the middle of the offending sequence, however, on some occasions this is not possible and the cursor will be placed next to it.

Note that pasting text into Sontana is not subject to sequence checking, therefore if you do some heavy editing to a file it is sensible to run Check Sequence before saving.
